Not every tray is the same size or used for the same purpose. Buyers often need a quick way to understand whether a request belongs to a 2.5-inch tray, a 3.5-inch carrier, or a newer E3.S SSD tray.
2.5-inch trays
These are common in mixed storage servers and replacement sourcing projects. They are often chosen for compact drive layouts and higher bay density.
3.5-inch trays
These are usually used where the system still supports large-format HDDs or older storage configurations. For refurbishers, these trays are often requested for legacy replacement programs.
E3.S trays
E3.S is a newer SSD-oriented format, so the sourcing conversation is usually more technical. The buyer should confirm the generation, slot layout, and server platform before requesting a quote.
How to choose fast
If the server family is known, start from the platform first. If the platform is unclear, start from the physical dimensions and the tray photo. That saves time and reduces wrong-item shipments.
